The Mustangs traveled to Nebraska Friday night for a Heart of America Athletic Conference women’s volleyball match against Peru State. Despite two players registering double-digit kill numbers, Mount Mercy fell in five sets.

The loss was the third in six matches for the Mustangs (16-6, 9-4 HOA), which held a 7-4 lead in the winner-take-all fifth set before surrendering 11 of the final 15 points.

Former Clear Creek Amana prep Sam Schrage led the Mustangs with 12 kills, while junior outside hitter Mary Kate Bendlage added 11. Sophomore defensive specialist Kate Wright posted 27 digs and sophomore setter Maddie Marquardt added 39 assists.
