CENTER POINT — After pulling out a hard-fought first set win, fifth-rated Center Point-Urbana dropped three straight sets to fall to No. 15 West Delaware, 3-1 Tuesday night at the Dog Pound.
CP-U won the first set, 25-19, then lost 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 to a fired up Hawk squad.
Coach Michelle Halac’s team got down early in the first set, but roared back to tie things at 11-all and played strong down the stretch to pick up the 25-19 win.
But the final three sets would see West Delaware get out to big early leads, then have CP-U come back to make it close before the Hawks pull away for the set win and finally the match.
The Stormin’ Pointers will close out the regular season Saturday as the host of the Center Point-Urbana Invitational, beginning at 8:30 am at the Dog Pound.
